Yesterday (July 6, 2020), filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali recorded his statement at the Bandra station in connection with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise. Sushant died by suicide on June 14. Ever since he left for his heavenly abode, netizens have displayed their outrage over the treatment of outsiders in the film industry.
With respect to Bhansali’s recorded statement, DCP Abhishek Trimukh revealed to media that the filmmaker was supposed to cast Sushant in four of his films. He said, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali was planning to take Sushant in four of his films. But due to the unavailability of dates. the films had other actors.
Bhansali further said in his statement, ‘As a director, I wanted his full attention and dedication for my project, but due to the busy schedule of my own schedule, Sushant himself refused me for both these films. After which I did not talk to Sushant again about films.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali told the police, ‘I knew Sushant as a film actor in the same way as I know the rest of the cast. He was not so close to me that he should share personal things with me. I did not know about his depression.
Bhansali said, “After the year 2016, I met Sushant Singh Rajput in film shows only 3 times, but during this time I did not talk to him about doing any film or anything.”
